Fantastic Weekend at Waredaca

5/9/2025

In the dressage warm-up on Saturday, I overheard Boyd Martin telling someone that to get good at eventing, you have to fall and lose—a lot and you better have thick skin... alligator skin. This weekend was one more reminder that every outing is a step forward, even when things don’t go to plan. Carrowgar Future and I unfortunately parted ways on cross country after a silly mistake on my part, but we both walked away safe and with some valuable homework. As for Adara, she just wasn’t feeling quite like herself, so I made the decision to retire on course—because her well-being will always come first.
That said, my students had an absolutely fantastic weekend, and I couldn’t be more proud! Kyra Caffrey and Never Gone South were the big winners taking the win in Novice Rider with another FOD. Riley Shank and Qualita also finished with an FOD in the Beginner Novice Rider, while Dana Rizkoskwi and Brother Dan finished 5th in Open Novice. And lastly Andoline Harrell piloted my sweet Chance of Flurries to a 6th place finish in Starter with a personal best in the dressage and another clear cross country with Murphy proving age is just a number (he is 24 this year )!
It was a big team effort this weekend with everyone showing up to support one another and I am very thankful for the "team environment". A special thank you to Andoline for coming out Saturday to groom for me—it’s always such a joy to see a student dive headfirst into the work and soak up every bit of the sport.
